Junior Sims

Junior Sims, 83, of Cowen passed away March 17, 2017 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown with his family by his side.  Junior was born October 24, 1933 in Webster County and was the son of the late James Wesley and Virginia Malcomb Sims. Also preceding in death were his siblings, Lawrence Sims, Bernard Sims, Velva Runge and Georgia Weimer

Junior was a lifelong hard working and dedicated coal miner.  He worked at several mines, retiring from Terry Eagle in 1999.  Junior enjoyed family, caring for his property, gardening, cooking, and telling stories of his life experiences.

Junior is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Thelma Dempsey Sims; four children were raised by Junior and Thelma in order; Helena Chaney, Brenda (Rex) Ware, Mary (Glen) Bragg and Robert Sims; 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; siblings left to cherish his memory are; Dale Pease, Reta Peace and Robert Sims all of Baltimore, MD, Charlie Sims of Cowen, Kenny Sims, of Hedgesville ,WV  and Norma Jean Horner of Trenton, TX.

Funeral service will be 2:00 Tuesday March 21, 2017 at Adams-Reed Funeral Home, Cowen with Rev. Troy George officiating.  Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Cowen.  Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
