Barbara McCumbers

Barbara L. "Bobbi" McCumbers, 79, of Cowen, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.

Born May 19, 1936 in Richwood, she was the daughter of the late Henry Short and Emma Jane (Plummer) and Leonard Starcher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Stewart McCumbers, and son, Kenneth McCumbers.

She was a store clerk in the retail grocery industry, serving the towns of Webster Springs and Cowen for 39 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Mina Bailey (husband, James) and Deborah Snyder (husband, Bill); daughter-in-law, Deloris Bess; eight granddaughters, Pam Bailey, Patricia Young, Emma Buchanon (husband, Gary), Lynn McCoy (husband, Adam), Cindy Nutter (husband, Timmy), Sheila Brown (husband, Matt), Crystal Hayhurst (husband, Matt) and Annie Bailey (husband, Lundy); 18 great-grandchildren, Cristopher Young, Felicia Young, Harley Young, Gary Buchanon, Alyssa Tharp, Dawson Tharp, Riley McCoy, Logan Brown, Lily Brown, Jaylen Bailey, due to arrive in September, Elias Bailey, Carson Short, Cameron Short, Reese Nutter, Montana Nutter, Brayden Nutter, Grant Hayhurst and Keaton Hayhurst; one great-great-grandchild, Railyn Young; brother, John Short; and sister, Shirley Hedger.

Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, at Adams-Reed Funeral Home, Cowen, with the Rev. James Bailey and the Rev. Mike Brown officiating. Burial will follow at West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin.

Friends may join the family for visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 27, at the funeral home.
