Bertha Ann Chaffin, 81 of Cowen passed away March 16, 2026 at her home. Bertha was born June 13, 1944 in Cowen and was the daughter of the late Ardan and Alice Ray Williams. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Donald Loye Chaffin; siblings, Lovie Sill, Louvis Newhouse, Russell Beale, Billy Williams, Jubert Williams, Polly Johnson and Eddie Williams; daughter in law, Joyce Chaffin; grandson, Caden Loye Gene Williams and a great grandson Dalton Lough.

Bertha was a Baptist by faith and had attended Arcola Church. She enjoyed camping, cooking for her family, gardening, canning, pitching horseshoes, spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and loved her dog, Pepper.

Surviving are her children Robert (Stephanie) Chaffin, Sr, Darlene Chaffin, Michael (Loretta) Chaffin, Anna (George) Williams and John Boy (Tiffany) Chaffin; grandchildren, Crystal Chaffin, Robert Chaffin, Donald Chaffin, Bradley (Lori Ward) Chaffin, Melissa Chaffin, Michael Chaffin, Shane Chaffin, Josh Hoke, Chaddy, Alabama, and Nevaeh Chaffin, Sumer Chaffin, Myesha Chaffin, Shakira Chaffin, Jasmine Chaffin, Stormy Chaffin, Easton Chaffin, Doodles (Becky) Williams, John (Krista) Williams, Justin (Stephanie) Williams, Heather (George) Young, Hillary (Noah Mason) Short and Hannah (Caleb Chipps) Short ; great grandchildren, Nellie Chaffin, Olivia (William) Taylor, Makayla Williams, Vincent William, Joshua Hoke, Betsy Hoke, McKenzie Hoke, Addalynn Hoke, Havannah Hoke, Wayde Hoke, Liam Williams, Emma Williams, Ava Williams Jaylnn Chaffin, Zane Collins, Raylea Smith Brayden Paugh, Hunter Chaffin, Garrett Chaffin, Walker Lough, Leo Williams, Ace Williams and Jeremy Williams, Hayden, Brooklyn, Jazzlyn, Kanyon and Coleson Young, Huxley, Crew and Sloane Chipps; brothers, Harold (Ruth) Williams and Jimmy Dale (Kathy) Williams; and also many other extended family members and friends who will miss her.

Graveside Service will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Chaffin Family Cemetery with Pastor Doug Martin officiating.
