Betty Nell Sutton Waybright, 94, of Cowen, formerly of Hopewell, VA, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Webster Healthcare Center, Cowen. Betty was born January 25, 1932 in Sutton and was the daughter of the late Ronal C. and Edith Tyler Sutton. Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, James H. Waybright; brother, Ronnie Sutton and sisters, Carolyn Haddix and Shirley Tracy.

Betty was a Christian by faith and attended Tri City Church of Christ when she lived in Hopewell, VA.  In November of 2009 she moved back to Cowen and lived with her sister Shirley until her health allowed.  Betty enjoyed people, she loved working with the public; she was a very gracious and generous person, she was an avid dog lover, enjoyed traveling, reading, shoes, doing crossword puzzles and often talked about her time growing up in Arcola. 

Surviving are her sister, Jeanie Sparks and her husband Fred of Cowen; many nieces, nephews and extended family members who will truly miss her. 

Per Betty’s wishes, she will be cremated and will be inurned at Little Arlington Cemetery, Elkins with her husband.  A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring.
