Charlotte Champ

Charlotte Faye (Hammons) Champ, 68, of Cottle, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 26, 2016 at Summersville Regional Medical Center.

Born February 1, 1948 in Richwood, she was the daughter of the late Elza and Gladys (Fletcher) Hammons.

In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her brother, Dorsey Hammons; sister, Garlynn Curry; and 3 infant siblings.

She retired from the Department of Health and Human Resources in Nicholas County.  Charlotte was a Christian and attended Little Glade Church.  She enjoyed bowling, playing cards with her family, watching her grandchildren as they played basketball, football and baseball, and making special memories with her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 41 years, Albert Champ of Cottle; daughters, Crystal Champ of Summersville and Jessi Champ-Cummings (husband, Thomas) of Craigsville; grandchildren, Donovon Keenan, Landon Keenan, and Caden Hess; aunt, Bertie Beckett; special cousin and friend, Lena Plymale; nieces, Diana Phister, Mary Campbell, and Faye Curry-Fox; nephew, Curtis Curry; and a host of cousins and other relatives to mourn her passing.

Graveside services will be held 2pm on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Alex Williams Cemetery, Camden On Gauley, with the Reverend Mike Malcomb officiating.  Burial will follow immediately after the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in honor of Charlotte be made to the Susan G. Komen foundation, P. O. Box 650309 Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
