Delma Justus Hickman, 91, of Camden-on-Gauley, died Thursday May 31, 2012. at CAMC Division.
She was born on June 23, 1920 in Boggs, WV. and was the daughter of the late Ira and Nelphia Justus.
Delma was a member of the Bethal United Methodist Church, Camden-on-Gauley. She was a member of the United Methodist Women for more than 50 years, and was a past district officer of the United Methodist Women. She was a member Camden Community Education Outreach Service for more than 50 years. She belonged to the Eastern star, Chapter 161, and was a member of the Webster County Senior Citizens, She was past president of the 4-H leaders. She was retired employee of Dana B. Martin store in Camden-on-Gauley, and later retired from Site Employee of Senior Citizens in Camden-on-Gauley.
Throughout her 91 years, she mourned the loss of many beloved family member, her beloved husband of over50 years, Arch H. Hickman; sister, Erma Fletcher; and brothers, Don, Ira Jr. and Troy Justus. She lost a beloved daughter, Jane Hickman McManaman, on December 29, 2011.
Surviving are her sons; Arch Edward "Johnny" Hickman and wife Fely, of Fayetteville, N.C., and George Hickman and Wife Joyce of Summersville, WV., daughter; Sue Hickman Callahan and husband Paul of Winfield, WV.; grandchildren, Beth Hickman Lucas and husband Rudy of Fayetteville, N.C., Jeff Hickman and wife Susan of St. Maries, Idaho, Jon Hickman and wife Liz of Concord, N.C. and Derek Callahan and wife Brittany of Fraziers Bottom; great-grandchildren; Genevie and Gerald Chan of Leland, N.C., Hannah and Nathan Hickman of Fayetteville, N.C., Ethan Hickman of St. Maries, Idaho, Holly Hickman of of Concord, N.C. and Alexis and Christina Callahan of Fraziers Bottom, and great-great-grandchildren; Landan and Lilah Chan of Leland, N.C. She is also survived by one step granddaughter and many nieces, nephews, cousins, step great-great-grandchildren and friends.
The family would like to thank Kelly Elliott for all she has done , as our mother could not have stayed in her home without her help. We would like to express our endless gratitude for her love and gracious care of out mother. Also, we would like to thank the members of Bethal United Methodist Church, especially Donna and Butch Williams, and her neighbors, especially Roy and Jenny McCumbers, for all their friendship, help and assistance over the past several months.
The much beloved matriarch of our family will be greatly missed.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Bethal United Methodist Church, Camden-on-Gauley.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at Adams-Reed Funeral Home, Cowen.
