Doy Williams

December 28, 1930 — April 12, 2016

Doy Marlin Williams, 85 of Craigsville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 12, 2016. He was born December 28, 1930 in Webster County to Leonard and Ethel Thaxton Williams. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle.

Doy loved everyone, but most of all, he had a great love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. While physically able, Doy attended Liberty Union Mission Church in Craigsville.

Doy was a retired coal miner and member of the UMWA. He spent many years working in the woods, timbering logs and operating saw mills. He often referred to himself as a “wood hick”.

Doy was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Williams; mother Ethel Thaxton Williams; four brothers Evertt, Bernard, Delmas and Delbert Williams; and two grandsons Robbie and Tony Williams.

He is survived by his wife of almost 44 years, Rebecca Keenan Williams, whom he loved unconditionally; son Dana (Karen) Williams of Winamac, IN; daughters Rose Mary (Jim) Dewey and Kay Ward of Camden on Gauley, and Corrine (Jeff) Lynch of Summersville; brothers Vasil (Mary Ann) Williams and Howard (Eloise) Williams; ten grandchildren Sheila, Bobby, Jimmy, Debbie, Tabitha, Melinda, Brandy, Wesley, Shatona, and Austin; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services to celebrate Doy’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Liberty Union Mission Church, Woodbine Road, Craigsville with Rev. Jerry Hayhurst officiating. Burial will follow in Alex Williams Cemetery, Cranberry Ridge.
