Harold Ray “Rocky” Ledsome, Sr., 81, of Cowen went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 22, 2016 at Summersville Regional Medical Center after a short illness. He was born May 24, 1934, in Burning Springs, WV to Russell Guy and Stella Frances Woodring Ledsome and was Baptist by faith. Rocky was a very hard working, loving, kind man who was loved by many.
He worked in the coal mines and sawmills and enjoyed being in the woods ginsenging. He put more miles on his feet than most put on a vehicle in their lifetime. He loved senging in the hills of West Virginia.
Rocky is survived by his son Harold (wife Sherry) Ledsome, Jr. of Nettie; daughters Linda (husband Lonnie) Hinkle of Craigsville, Angie (husband Terry) Jarvis of Craigsville, Janet Ledsome of Cowen, Sarah Ledsome of Craigsville, Renea (husband Danny) Cogar of Camden on Gauley, and Kimberly (companion David Canada) Conrad of Craigsville; brother Kenneth Ledsome of New York; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by the love of his life Mary Linda Gillespie Ledsome; sons Michael Gillespie and Ray Everette Ledsome; daughter Diniah Hammons; grandchildren Stacey Harris and Ethan Thomas Perrine; and several brothers and sisters.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Adams-Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Rocky’s life will be held at 2:00 PM with Rev. Keith Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Erbacon.
