Lucille Tharp Jacobs

Lucille (Tharp) Jacobs, 77 of Upperglade, formerly of Greensboro, NC, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025 at United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, WV.

Lucille was born June 20, 1948 to Ganes and Hazel Marie Hall Tharp of Webster County. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Jacobs; former husband, James Hunt; sisters, Mona Jewel. Martha Spaulding, Linda Kay Locklear; brothers, Jonas Tharp, Arley Jack Tharp (twin to Martha), Stanley Arnold Tharp and John Henry Tharp; and also a granddaughter Ashley Harmon.

She loved watching wrestling working jigsaw puzzles playing cards. She was a former housekeeper and office worker for motels in Greensboro NC before coming to live in West Virginia.

Left to cherish her memory are her son; Anthony (Debbie) Harmon, Buddy (Carla Anderson) Harmon, Terry Harmon, and Jimmy Hunt, all of North Carolina; daughters, Carlene Wilson, Elizabeth Jacobs and Patricia (John Mar) Hicks all of North Carolina; sisters, Rebecca Thompson and Roberta Tharp both of North Carolina and a brother, Jerry Allen Tharp of North Carolina; Edward and Wilma Green of Upperglade, with whom she made her home with until her passing; 23 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Adams-Reed Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Eddie Green officiating. Friends may join the family for visitation 12 Noon until time of service.
