Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Hammonds

Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Hammonds, 74, of Fenwick passed away Friday, March 8, 2024. She was born August 3, 1949, in Pocahontas Co., WV and was the daughter of the late Smith Hammons and Pearl McCoy. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Hammonds, and a half-brother, Virgil McCoy.

Betty was a Methodist by faith and had attended Macedonia Methodist Church in Richwood. During her working years, she was a CNA. She enjoyed cooking, sewing , canning fixing deer meat ; but most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

 Surviving are her son, Mart W. (Stacy) Hammonds; grandchildren, Kim (Matt) Marshall, Jesse Hammonds, Casey (Amanda) Daff Araya Hammonds and Dillan (Shayla) Hammonds; great grandchildren, Bentley, Grayson, Jackson, Chevelle, Cason and Raeann; brother, Everett (Marie) Hammons; stepson, Charlie (Cheryl) Rose and a lifelong friend Eddie Smith. 

 Service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Adams-Reed Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Tim Skaggs officiating. Burial will follow at Handschmacher Cemetery, Upperglade. Friends may join the family for visitation 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home.
