Robert Clyde Hammons, 78 of Craigsville, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at his residence. He was born November 2, 1935 in Cranberry Ridge, Webster County, to George B. and Lucinda Robertson Hammons and was a lifelong resident of Webster and Nicholas Counties. He was a woodsman for Leslie Brothers before becoming disabled, enjoyed fishing and hunting, and loved gardening.

Robert is survived by his wife Dessie Mae Ward Hammons; sons Ralph W. (wife Misty) Hammons of Craigsville, Robert C. Hammons Jr. of Gladeview, and Richy A. (wife Mary) of Craigsville, and step-son Charles R. Williams of Craigsville; daughters Linda Y. (husband Jimmy) Lawson of Craigsville, Betty J. (husband Mitchell) White of Upperglade, Barbara J. (husband Johnny) Lewis of Williams River, and step-daughter Frances L. Spinks of Craigsville; 26 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons Robert C., Roger L. and Ray D. Hammons; brothers Cecil, French, and Francis Hammons; and grandson Todd Wesley Chapman.

There will be no services as it was Robert's wishes to be cremated.
