Sibyl ODell

d. August 30, 2014

Our mother, Sibyl D. Cunningham Holcomb O'Dell, entered her rest on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at her home in Cowen, after an extended illness at the age of 92 years.

She was born April 16, 1922 in Wainville, WV, the eldest child of Roy Cunningham Sr. and Eula Weese Cunningham.

Mom was preceded in death by her parents; her first born child Kenneth Gale; two brothers Lambert "Jack" Cunningham and Kenneth Cunningham; three sisters Ruth Cunningham, Thelma Cunningham Bean, and Alladean Cunningham Murphy; and her husbands Len H. Holcomb (our father) and Roy O'Dell.

She is survived by two sons Roger (Sherry) and Bill (Charlotte) Holcomb; two daughters Joyce (Dan) Bean and Judy (Gary) Deel all of Cowen; ten grandchildren Greg, Rob, Tonya, Laura, Jennifer, Kenny, Sarah, Tim, Kim, and Scott; fifteen great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren; two sisters Mary Foy of Morgantown and Mabel Adkison of Florida; and three brothers Roy Cunningham of Sutton, Larry Cunningham of Florida, and Ronnie Cunningham of Erbacon.

Mom enjoyed traveling, meeting new people, working in her flower beds, feeding the birds, playing card games with the family, watching the West Virginia Mountaineer football games and the Cincinnati Reds baseball games, designing her homes, and bowling.

She was a good cook, a very neat housekeeper, and a hard worker. She has been employed at B-E Aerospace in Fenwick, Bright of America in Summersville, Gauley Mountain Company Store in Cowen, and various other places.

Mom is a member of the Arcola Community Church where she attended when she was at her home in Cowen and the Romeo Baptist Church when she was at her home in Florida.

Mom loved the Lord and talked about how He had blessed her with a good life, two good husbands, and a good family. She said she was ready to go when the Lord wanted to come and get her.

We will miss her and all the little things that made her special to us.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Adams-Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Sibyl's life will be held on Thursday at 1:00 PM at the Arcola Community Church with Rev. Larry Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Cowen.
